About
Leela is a clinical social worker who uses a cultural-relational approach and narrative practice combined with historical and social context to guide therapeutic interventions with clients. Leela believes that healing comes from looking inward to true identity, self- reflection on trauma and resiliency, and unpacking childhood experiences that show up in day to day life. Leela believes that recognizing the social norms and their oppressive nature can help folks redefine their inner self and experiences that are traumatic in nature.
All of this has contributed to misalignment about who we are and stagnated the development of healthy, authentic secure relationships. Through reclamation and reframing, individuals can develop a more aligned sense of self and live more authentically because of this.
Leela is committed to creating and holding the space to help individuals, couples, and families develop and feel anchored in these areas.
Leela has an Undergraduate Degree in Social Work from St Catherine University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Augsburg College. They have life experience and professional experience in areas such as adoption, addiction, childhood trauma, LGBTQ matters, identity, racism and discrimination (and the impact), grief, gender affirming care, and child welfare. They have had the honor of working within very diverse communities and are committed to healing and empowering communities of color, Indigenous peoples, and trans/gender diverse identity through accessing inner strengths, and a greater sense of community.
Leela holds certifications in Adverse Childhood Experiences/ACES, N.E.A.R. Science (Neurodiversity/Epigenetics), and Intercultural Development Inventory.
